Among them are new grid shapes and greater control when using pixel blur, allowing you to fine-tune the intensity and appearance of the pixel blur effect. The latest version of Blackmagic Design’s software includes many other new features. Similarly, Mac users with M1 chips will be able to encode in H.265 format, prioritize speed to reduce rendering time “by up to 65%” and decode AVC-Intra files using the decoder included in the Apple chip. In addition, thanks to the tiled rendering of the new processing engine, the program consumes 30% less battery power on laptops.

This means faster 4K playback, editing and color grading, and even 8K projects can be worked on with the Apple M1 chips. Thanks to new support for Apple’s M1 chips, DaVinci Resolve offers three times faster processing compared to the previous version of Blackmagic Design’s software. Thank you.Blackmagic Design updates DaVinci Resolve to version 17.3 Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve version 17.3, while focusing on Apple’s M1 chip, brings many other new features. If anyone can shed some light on the situation that would be much appreciated. I used resolve 17 for months with no issues and no change to my setup and cannot think of the cause of these persistent problems. I'm at a total loss for what to do at this point. New graphics driver update on the 26th, still no improvement in either DR version. I uninstalled 17.4 and installed 17.3.2 again, but got the same exact thing. I tried messing with the GPU/memory settings to no avail. Sometimes it would get totally stuck and crash to desktop. It skips and drops frames constantly or plays back slower than real time, sometimes with the audio playing properly while the video is totally frozen, only for it to catch up later.

Now even with the timeline res at 1080p and the half or quarter res proxy mode on it still is basically unusable. Normally I edit 1440p 60fps timeline res with 1080p 60-120fps or 4k 30 footage and never have playback issues. All seemed well but suddenly about an hour later I started getting horrible frame drops and unusable stuttering in playback. I was in the middle of a project when I saw the 17.4 update was available and decided to go for it. A few days ago I was using Davinci Resolve 17 (Free), I'm pretty sure 17.3.2, just fine.
